Perouges & Beaujolais

In the morning, after a 35-minute transfer by coach, visit Pérouges, a medieval town with intact architecture, the setting for numerous cinema films including The Three Musketeers.

With your guide, discover the Fortress Church then take the streets with cobblestones. On the Central Square, admire the beauty of the old half-timbered houses dating from the 13th century and learn about the fascinating history of this weavers' village which was in turn part of the kingdom of Dauphiné then Savoy before becoming French.

Around 11:30 a.m., heads towards Beaujolais and on the way cross La Dombes, the region of a thousand ponds.

At 12:30 p.m., have lunch in a Beaujolais restaurant and savor the delicious local cuisine. Menus from €25/person. Possibility of lunch at a wine estate.

In the afternoon, visit the Golden Stones region and its listed village called Oingt with unforgettable street names: tyr-laine, Coupe Jarret, Trayne Cul, etc. Let yourself be dazzled by the colors of the landscapes covered with vines and the small villages built in ocher stone.

At 3:30 p.m., push the door of a family wine estate, meet a passionate winemaker and visit its facilities.

End this beautiful day with a tasting of several Beaujolais wines made from Gamay and Chardonnay grape varieties before returning to Lyon.

It is possible to do a half-day tour of around 4 hours with the discovery of Perouges alone or the South of Beaujolais with Oingt village and one winery.

These two half-day excursions can take place in the morning between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. or in the afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
