Fourvière Hill & Lyon Old Town Walking tour - 3 hrs.

At 9:00 am, participants will meet our friendly licensed guide in front of Lyon Cathedral Saint Jean. After a short walk, the group will take one of the oldest funiculars nicknamed “Ficelle”.
This morning walking tour visit will start with a spectacular panoramic view over the magnificent city of Lyon from the top of Fourvière Hill. 

Next, participants will enter the impressive Basilica Notre Dame built by the Architect Pierre Bossan in Romanesque and Byzantine architecture and admire the walls covered by sumptuous mosaics with colorful stained glass windows.

The visit will continue with the well-preserved ancient Gallo-Roman Theatre built a century BC which today hosts numerous music concerts in summer.

Then, participants will descend on a peaceful pedestrian street called La Montée du Gourguillon,  stopping to discover some medieval houses before reaching Lyon Old Town. 

First they will discover St Georges district famous for its Guignol theatre and then head towards Saint Jean district to take several traboules, these intriguing passageways which link private courtyards to neighbouring streets.

During the stroll, participants will discover the main monuments of Lyon Old Town and listen to its fascinating history.

At 12:00 pm, participants will end this walking tour, it is time for apéritif and lunch !

End of a beautiful morning!
